Business Development Manager
We are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join the existing Sales Team within a fast-paced environment.

What We Need
We are seeking a dynamic professional to drive growth in the telecommunications sector by identifying and quantifying opportunities across broadband, utilities, and government/defence markets, including both direct and indirect sales channels such as system integrators. The role involves researching potential market areas for telecom solutions, presenting C&W’s innovative offerings to prospective clients, and proactively communicating our value proposition. You will represent the company at industry events and conferences to build networks, promote products, and strengthen brand presence. A key part of the position is fostering long-term relationships while staying informed on emerging technologies and new product developments to ensure C&W remains at the forefront of the industry.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations
- Identify and quantify target sectors across broadband, utilities, and government/defence, defining both direct and indirect routes-to-market (including system integrators).
- Research and evaluate potential market areas to uncover new telecommunications opportunities.
- Present C&W telecommunications solutions to prospective users, delivering tailored in-person and online presentations.
- Proactively communicate C&W’s value proposition in client meetings, proposals, and partner engagements.
- Represent the business at industry events and conferences to network, generate leads, and promote products and brand.
- Build and sustain strategic relationships with customers, partners, and system integrators, while staying current on new products and technologies.
- Create sales forecasts, track progress, and present performance updates to the Senior Management Team.
- Contribute to tender applications and bid submissions to win new business.
- Collaborate with engineering to develop solutions and resolve issues for both new and existing customers.
Additional Expectations
- Achieve a BaU run-rate revenue of at least £2,000,000 per annum.

- Operate remotely after initial on-site training, with monthly visits to the Gloucester office (1–2 times).
- Monthly/Quarterly meetings to be held at the office in-person.
- Additional training provided by suppliers as & when required, also in office in-person.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the telecommunications or technology sector, ideally with exposure to broadband, utilities, and government/defence markets.
- Strong market research and analytical skills to identify opportunities and quantify sector potential.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of delivering compelling value propositions to diverse audiences.
- Relationship-building expertise, with a track record of developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
- Commercial acumen and negotiation skills to drive successful outcomes in complex sales environments.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and industry trends, ensuring solutions remain competitive and innovative.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry events, and conferences as required.
Desirable
- Management Experience/ bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business management or Business Administration/ Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business: Sales & Marketing, Level 3 award in Sales Management.
- 5+ years of proven experience of working in the Telecoms sector.

Telecommunications Support Engineers
We are looking to appoint an additional two Telecommunications Support Engineers that will be fundamental to the company’s operational and service support capability, and a defined career path available, with future options.
Full-Time – 37 hours/week, Gloucester office-based Role.

Due to the continued growth, the company is looking to appoint a further two Telecommunications Support Engineers to enhance an already strong and competent team with different specialisms.
What are we looking for?
The company markets a wide range of PDH, SDH, Ethernet/IP, MPLS, Optical specialised, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless LTE based networking equipment and Syncronisation. We provide and manage a variety of SNMP based network management systems servers. The applicant must have a basic understanding of these technologies with specialist knowledge in at least two of the Key Technical Skills and experience within an engineering support environment.
We are looking for a positive, hardworking candidate who is willing to learn and keep on top of modern communication technologies as the telecommunication industry evolves. The company has a reputation for integrity and strong technical capability, the applicant will need to be a team player who can contribute ideas and apply good fault resolution methodology in an open environment. This person must also be capable of applying this knowledge both on-site with customers and in-house.
Ideally, the applicant should be educated to HNC level or above or have the relevant experience within the telecommunications sector and be eligible for UKSC & NPPV3 clearances with the availability to deploy into the field when required.
We provide 24/7 support to our customers so the ability to participate in an out of hours rota is essential. This will take the form phone support, Email support and the occasional customer site visit.
The company is offering an attractive salary for the right person, this will be very dependent on experience and their levels of knowledge.
This is not an IT role or suitable for cable installers.
Key Technical Skills (Minimum of 2 of the below)
- Specialist knowledge in Optical Networks and associated hardware.
- Understanding of Cellular LTE.
- Routing & Switching protocols.
- Network Syncronisation (PNT).
- Experience in the use of test equipment such as optical power meters & light sources, BERT’s, cellular scanners and multi-meters.
- Able to conduct testing and produce full comprehensive test documentation /reports.
- Experienced in fault finding methodology.
- The ability to manage fault tickets process from beginning to end.
- Ability to administer and run turnkey projects.
- Experience with remote network management platforms.
- Experience in Cisco hardware and configuration, ideally with CCNA level qualifications or working towards.
Key Supporting Skills:
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, internally and externally.
- Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related matters.
- Experience using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as part of team or autonomously using their own initiative.
- The ability to train other members of the team and customers.
- Ability to transfer existing skills to the Cherry & White environment, technically, process-wise and by experience.
- Ability to work under pressure and to given deadlines.
- Available to carry out field activities as when the business requires, to include GPS & cabinet surveys, Installation of telecoms equipment, commissioning and fault rectification.
