Technical Support Engineer
We are looking to appoint an additional Technical Support Engineer that will be fundamental to the company’s operational capability, accordingly for the right applicant, a defined career path is available with future options available. Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Gloucester office-based Role.

Cherry & White Ltd is an established telecommunications company serving Military, Government, Transport and Utility markets. The company is looking to appoint a further two Technical Support Engineers to enhance an already strong and competent team with different specialisms.
What are we looking for?
The company markets a wide range of PDH, SDH, Ethernet/IP, MPLS, Optical specialised, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless, LTE based networking equipment and Syncronisation. We provide and manage a variety of SNMP based network management systems that run on Linux, Solaris and Windows servers. The applicant must have a basic understanding of these technologies with specialist knowledge in at least one of the Key Technical Skills.
We are looking for a positive, hardworking candidate who is willing to learn and keep on top of modern communication technologies as the telecommunication industry evolves. The company has a reputation for integrity and strong technical capability, the applicant will need to be a team player who can contribute ideas and apply good fault resolution methodology in an open environment. This person must also be capable of applying this knowledge both on-site with customers and in-house.
Ideally, the applicant should be educated to HNC level or above in a telecommunications field and be eligible for UKSC & NPPV3 clearances with the availability to go into the field when required.
We provide 24/7 support to our customers so the ability to participate in an out of hours rota is essential. This will take the form phone support, Email support and the occasional customer site visit.
The company is offering an attractive salary for the right person, this will be very dependent on experience and their levels of knowledge.
This is not an IT role or suitable for fibre pullers/splicers
Key Technical Skills
- Specialist knowledge in Optical Networks and associated hardware.
- Familiar with a range of test equipment such as optical power meters & light sources, BERT’s, cellular scanners and multi-meters.
- Familiar with Cellular RTE, Routing & Switching protocols and network synchronisation.
- Able to conduct testing and produce full comprehensive test documentation / reports.
- Experienced in fault finding methodology.
- The ability to manage fault tickets process from beginning to end.
- Ability to administer and run turnkey projects.
- Experience with remote network management platforms.
Key Supporting Skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, internally and externally.
- Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related matters.
- Experience using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously using their own initiative.
- The ability to train other members of the team and customers.
- Ability to transfer existing skills to the Cherry & White environment, technically, process-wise and by experience.
- Ability to work under pressure and to given deadlines.
- Available to carry out field activities as when the business requires, to include GPS & cabinet surveys, Installation of telecoms equipment, commissioning and fault rectification.

IT Technician
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior IT Technician to join the existing IT Team within a fast- paced environment.

We are looking for a highly motivated Junior IT Technician to join the existing IT Team within a fast- paced environment. The person will form an important and integral part of an expanding business. This is a 37 hour a week job, based at the Gloucester office. Mon-Thurs 08.30-5pm Fri 08.30-4.30pm with a 1-hour lunch break. All applicants must be eligible for UKSC & NPPV3 clearances.

Activity
- After training – be the first point of contact for technical issues, managing troubleshooting efforts and ensuring fast solutions.
- Managing Onboarding & Offboarding by facilitating a seamless IT setup for new starters and handling the offboarding processes.
- Support employees with technology issues, hardware & software upgrades & office equipment replacement.
- Maintain IT documentation – track tasks through a ticketing system and develop internal user guides & trouble shooting documents and keep updated.
- Collaborate in additional projects and tasks as directed by the IT Manager.
- Contribute to smooth daily operations.
Expectation
- Solid IT skills & knowledge of necessary software including MSWord, Excel & Outlook.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and fluency in English.
- Ability to remain calm and logical when troubleshooting technical challenges.
- Passionate about learning new skills and embracing changing priorities.
- Ability to manage time efficiently & anticipate potential issues before they arise.
- Understanding of Windows operating systems.
- Ability to resolve issues promptly, minimising downtime after training.
- Ability to lift & carry equipment (e.g. Switch & server installs).
- Understanding or knowledge of ENTRA/InTune.
Desirable
- Familiarity with network fundamentals.
- Knowledge of permissions management & administration along with Active Directory.
- Knowledge of servers preferred.
Compensation
- 20 days Annual leave (and 8 Bank Holidays) plus one day Birthday Leave.
- Pension scheme enrolment once completed 3months employment.
- 6-month probation period.
